Pet Licenses for Dogs and Cats
All dogs and cats five (5) months or older are required to be licensed by April 1st of each year or within 30-days of becoming five months of age. A current rabies vaccination certificate is required for licensing.
Fees are as follows:
- $17.00 - Unaltered Dog or Cat
- $10.00 - Altered Dog or Cat
- $10.00 - Late Fee (after April 1st of each year)
Restraining Regulations:
Anyone owning or having charge, custody, care or control of any cat or dog shall keep the animal on their premises by personal and direct supervision, such as: voice command; keeping the cat/dog on an appropriate chain/tie no longer than 15 feet; or keeping the animal in an enclosed yard, this includes underground electrical fence. When taking the cat or dog off premises, the animal must be kept in an appropriate enclosure, or restrained by a substantial leash or chain not exceeding 6 feet in length. Anyone owning or having control of any animal shall clean up any feces immediately and dispose of it in a sanitary manner.
Number Restricted:
No one shall keep, own or harbor at their home, if located in a residential or planned unit district under the zoning code, more than two cats and dogs over three months of age. To exceed two cats or dogs, the resident must first obtain written approval of adjacent residential property owners within 100 feet of their property line and obtain a waiver from the Village Board.
