A sanitary sewer overflow has occurred at a Village of Kohler metering location manhole located alone Lower Falls Rd. The overflow occurred from approximately 11:00 am on Thursday, July 10 until 2:00 pm on Thursday July 10th. The overflow occurred due to a restriction at the meter and a crack in the overflow manhole. Approximately 15,00 gallons of wastewater was overflown.
Village personnel responded to the site and immediately stopped the overflow. Wastewater did reach the Sheboygan River. Measures are being taken to repair the damaged manhole and prevent future issues.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been notified. Pursuant to the requirements of NR 210, this press release is being issued regarding this event. The Village of Kohler is hoping to make improvements to this metering station to limit these types of incidents in the future.
